About the club:

Auckland North Shore Friendship Force was founded in 1992 and currently has 60 members. They are mostly retired and come from many different walks of life.

About the region:

North Shore City, where our club is located, is on the northern side of the beautiful Waitemata Harbour and is part of greater Auckland (population approximately 1.3 million). Auckland City, which lies on an isthmus between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, is known as the "City of Sails" because of the numerous sailing activities available on the harbour. Appearing to guard the harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf is the majestic Rangitoto Island, an extinct volcano, one of many in the Auckland region. There are many safe sandy beaches around the harbour and gulf, and surf beaches an hour away from the central business district, on the rugged west coast. Climate: average summer temperature 23 deg C. We suggest you avoid visiting us in the colder months of June, July and August.

About the exchange:

We normally welcome our ambassadors at a potluck meal and have a farewell and a lunch/dinner with entertainment to which all our club members are invited. The programme for the week, which is varied and interesting, usually includes a mayoral reception, a day bus trip, an opportunity to visit places of interest, picnic or BBQ (weather permitting) and informal get-togethers in the homes of other members of our club. In addition, non-hosting members offer to dinner/day host when required.
