About the club:

Our club was chartered in 1983 and we have about 45-50 members most of whom live in Hamilton City. We have club activities every month and like to host two inward exchanges every year.

 About the region:

The city of Hamilton is in the Waikato region of the North Island and is the centre of New Zealand's fourth largest urban area with a population of approximately 130,000. It is about 125 km (80 miles) south of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, and is sited on both sides of New Zealand's largest river, the Waikato River.  The city is surrounded by some of New Zealand's most fertile agricultural land with dairying and horse studs.  Hamilton has a university, a technical institute, an important agricultural research centre, a large dairy factory and a number of  other industries.  Major attractions are the magnificent Hamilton gardens, Hamilton Zoo, Lake Rotoroa domain, the museum and art gallery. We have a number of lovely parks and river and city walks. Hamilton hosts a performance summer festival at the gardens in February; a hot air balloon festival and V8 super car street racing in April and the National Agricultural Fieldays in June.

 About the exchanges:

As part of our programme we arrange day trips to the thermal centre of Rotorua and to the glow worm caves in Waitomo. Usually hosts will take ambassadors to either a west coast and/or an east coast beach and a walk in our beautiful bush can also be included. Ambassadors can be assured of an interesting and varied programme.  We prefer exchanges in our summer, October to April (but not January) because our winters are cold and often wet.
